Playing Backgammon against Computer

Though online backgammon allows to you play against human players, there are many advantages to playing online backgammon against the computer.

Ever since the beginning of internet backgammon, backgammon softwares were used as analysis tools. Software such as Snowie, GNU or Jellyfish allow players to analyze games as well as compare each and every move throughout the play.

If you are new to backgammon, you can play against the computer as a learning tool. Why should you lose your dignity (or your rating points, not to mention money) by playing backgammon against skilled players when you can train against a computer software?

Some tips for backgammon beginners who want to enjoy the benefits of practicing against the computer:

  1. Take your time - don't feel obligated to adjust youself to the computer's speed
  2. Be adventurous - don't play safe all the time; allow yourself to experiment different moves at given positions.
  3.  Save your games - including the ones in which you lost. Remember, you can learn from your mistakes.
If, for some reason, it doesn't work, you can try to play backgammon with a robot...
