Plan Your Game
Have a plan at all times. The plan may alter from one roll to the next, but always focus on how the game can be won, or if a loss is probable, how the gammon can be saved.
Discover the main thing(s) you need to do. Do you need to break away from your one back checker? Then run if it is possible, even if into a double shot. Are you falling behind in the race and need to contain your one opponent's straggler? Then slot, or hit, assertively. Don't let yourself just drift into weak positions.
