MSN Backgammon

After logging into the MSN gaming zone you can enter the MSN backgammon software. (Please note, you can only enter MSN backgammon or any of the other MSN gaming zone if you have a hotmail account). The technology used on the MSN backgammon is flash, meaning that it takes a while to download and play. In addition, after every step you will have to wait for the downloading. While waiting a few advertisements appear! after a minute or more, the MSN backgammon will be opened and you'll be asked to choose between three kinds of games: against computer, a friend you will call or a player that is close to your skill level (the MSN backgammon will choose him for you - you can't do it yourself.)

As illustrated in the image below, the software uses 2D interface and not 3d, as other in more sophisticated software (i.e., the profit sites.) It appears as though thought is lacking from the msm software.

Whilst playing, you can chat with your opponent in a friendly chat system. The playing area is on the small (almost half of the screen of the MSN backgammon software is occupied by advertisements and a chat system) and you don't get the feeling of a real game. There is no way of approving your move and after you made one it is not possible to cancel it. The main problem is the amount of players in this system - There are not more then a few hundreds at the same time. The number on the MSN backgammon lobby is wider than others, but it may include players that are unavailable. (players that chose to play against someone they called through the msn messenger).

MSN is the site for you if you are not too interested in the game, but are looking for a backgammon software and you are wanting to combine the game with a random chat.
