Highest Backgammon Tournament in the WorldBackgammon tournaments have been held in weirder places than on a mountain high restaurant overlooking the sea from 2739 meters height, underwater, by the sea, but as far as I know, not that high above sea level. However, especial hiking skills are not required from those who wish to take part in the Inaugural
Meribel International Backgammon Tournament, since the entry fees include cable car tickets.
The Meribel Backgammon Association is introducing its first backgammon tournament to be held between 10th and 13th of December at the Hotels de la Chaudanne and directed by Mike Main of Backgammon in London. Entry fees to the tournament will be priced at €30, and 100% of them will be added to the €5000 added prize donated by the Meribel Tourist Office and other local tourist establishments.
The Meribel Backgammon Tournament will be divided into two flights: masters and mid flight and will feature raw of side events such as “The Highest Little Tournament In The World”, jackpots, super jackpot, gang tournament (a casual team event "for the not so serious") and a free warm up event to be held on the second day of the tour, on Friday 22:30 PM, and, of course, the traditional welcome cocktail party, dinner breaks, and the trophies ceremony cocktail party will be part of the event.
